Our standard
ProvenHabits publishes practical, evidence-informed guidance on habit formation and self-improvement. Our goal is simple: give you advice that holds up in a real, interrupted week, not just on a perfect day.
Test before we tell
Our governing rule is that we do not write about a method we have not tried ourselves first. Guides on this site come from firsthand testing. When something failed for us, we say so, because an honest account of what did not work is often more useful than a success story.
How we handle facts and sources
- We do not fabricate statistics, study results, or expert claims.
- When we reference research or an authority, we name the source and describe findings as reported, so you can verify them independently.
- Behavior science evolves and evidence is often mixed. Where that is the case, we say the evidence is mixed rather than overstating it.
- We distinguish clearly between tested personal experience, reported research, and opinion.
Corrections
We want to be accurate. If you spot an error, email hello@provenhabits.com and we will review it. Substantive corrections are updated in the article and noted where appropriate.
Health and safety boundary
Habit topics sometimes border health and mental health. ProvenHabits stays in general self-improvement and behavior design. We do not provide medical, psychiatric, or clinical advice, and we route readers toward qualified professionals when a topic calls for it. See our Disclaimer.
Independence
Our recommendations reflect our honest assessment. If we ever introduce affiliate relationships or sponsored content, we will disclose them clearly and they will never change our honest opinion. See our Affiliate Disclosure for the current status.
